Virgin Media O2 has inked a distribution deal to bring DAZN’s women’s football portfolio to the pay-TV network.
The deal will see sports streaming platform DAZN make its women’s football-focused, free and ad-supported television (FAST) channel available to Virgin Media O2 subscribers in the UK.
DAZN’s Women’s Football provides live coverage and documentary content from the UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as Spain’s top-flight division Liga F.
Hannah Brown, Co-CEO of Women’s Sport at DAZN, said, “Partnering with Virgin Media is another way DAZN is ensuring that more people watch top class women’s football on the platform of their choice.
“DAZN is committed to growing the audience and value of women’s football and is pleased that Virgin have joined us as a premium distribution partner.”
DAZN Women’s Football launched in may last year in tandem with DAZN Combat, the UK-based subscription platform’s dedicated boxing and MMA channel.
Virgin and DAZN previously signed a distribution deal in March last year that included combat sports rights.
In August, the UK-based subscription service acquired Ata Football as part of its efforts to bolster its women’s football offering. The streaming platform offered streaming content from a number of women’s football leagues, including Serie A Femminile and the Women’s Champions League coverage.
