County cricket clubs Somerset, Kent and Northamptonshire have all formally launched formal bids to acquire Tier 1 women’s teams in 2025.

The clubs join Surrey in bidding for rights to the eight clubs which will make up the revamped top-flight division of English women’s cricket.

In January, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) unveiled plans for a new three-tiered format which will take effect from next year.

Last month, the governing body invited each of the 18 country cricket clubs to submit their bids ahead of a 10th March deadline.


Worcestershire County Cricket Club has partnered with DRPG, a global communications and creative agency based in Worcestershire.

The deal sees DRPG become the club’s official season preview and kit launch show partner. 

Working alongside the club’s official creative partner, BEARD, this collaboration aims to ‘kickstart the new season with unparalleled excitement and engagement among fans and supporters, showcasing the club’s aspirations and readiness for the year ahead.’

The Women’s EHF Euro 2026 championships will be co-hosted by five countries, the European Handball Federation’s (EHF) Organising Committee announced.

Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey will stage the championships, which will comprise 24 teams and will take place in December of that year.

Russia had initially been slated to host the tournament; however the committee later stripped the country of its hosting rights last July, amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
