On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Atlanta Falcons took to the field at Wembley Stadium for the first of three London Games this year.
Despite the sell-out crowd on the 10th anniversary of the Jags’ first visit to the the UK, all the talk from the game was about the league’s linkup with Disney and Pixar.
The collaboration – an attempt to entice a younger generation of viewers to the sport – saw an alternate broadcast of the regular season fixture, with viewers able to watch an animated version of the game played out in the bedroom of Andy, the boy in the original Toy Story film.
Titled ‘Toy Story Funday Football’, chips were placed inside the players’ equipment to relay their positions and body movements in real-time with the resulting broadcast shown on ESPN+ and Disney+.
