UK sports data and technology business Genius Sports has signed a new partnership with Premier League Productions (PLP) to ‘enhance live broadcasts for fans.’
As part of the new agreement, Genius Sports will use with rich tracking data insights and data-driven augmentations across the PLP broadcasts to offer a new live ‘Premier League Data Zone’ viewing mode.
This means that fans watching the PLP broadcast, which reaches 185 countries worldwide, will be able to follow real-time match data, along with watching the match itself.
Everything from player names to passing accuracy, shot speeds, sprints, total distance travelled, touches in the final third and pitch maps are interwoven into the live broadcasts through a unique L-bar, meeting the ever-growing demand amongst Premier League fans worldwide for data-driven insights. Data Zone will also integrate official Fantasy Premier League updates and rankings to enhance the fan entertainment experience.

The feature has been launched in collaboration with Genius Sports, PLP, the Premier League, and Football DataCo, a British company that grants licences to third parties allowing them to reproduce certain intellectual property owned by English footbal’s top-flight.
Genius Sports is already the official tracking provider of Football DataCo with the latest collaboration strengthening the pair’s relationship.
The ‘Premier League Data Zone’ has already been adopted by NBC Sports, Sky Sports, Optus Australia, ESPN Brazil, Canal+ France and other leading broadcasters and will resume this weekend with Arsenal vs Manchester City on Sunday 8th October.
