TGL GOLF LEAGUE SEALS AI PARTNER

The new tech-infused stadium-based golf league launched by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports venture, TGL, has partnered with Infinite Athlete.

Sports data technology firm Infinite Athlete, which is reportedly close to agreeing a front-of-short sponsorship with Premier League football club Chelsea, will provide TGL with it FusionFeed technology ‘to power revolutionary AI-enabled experiences.

The league says that it will use the FusionFeed ‘to create AI-driven products across different aspects of its operational and fan-facing initiatives.’

US-based Infinite Athlete is the parent company for Tempus Ex Machina and Biocore, which ‘combine sports video and data technology with safety and performance analytics run by world-leading biomechanical engineers and scientists.’

AI models can only be as effective as the data inputs you have feeding into them. Tempus Ex’s FusionFeed technology is designed to synchronize every piece of data produced at a sporting event, so they can ingest the vast amounts of data and video at TGL matches, optimizing our ability to create new experiences for fans.”

TGL, which was unveiled last year when Woods and McIlroy launched TMRW Sports, is set to kick off in January 2024 at a custom-built venue at Palm Beach State College in Florida and will feature a ‘data-rich, virtual course complete with a tech-infused, short-game complex’ with a ‘high-energy, greenside fan experience with every shot live within a two-hour, primetime televised match.’

The league’s inaugural season is set to feature 15 regular season matches, as well as semi-final and final matches.

Along with Woods and McIlroy, 12 players have signed up to compete including Jon Ram, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Billy Horschel, and Rickie Fowler, all of whom will be assigned to one of six franchises.

Andrew Macaulay, Chief Technology Officer at TMRW Sports, commented, “AI models can only be as effective as the data inputs you have feeding into them. Tempus Ex’s FusionFeed technology is designed to synchronize every piece of data produced at a sporting event, so they can ingest the vast amounts of data and video at TGL matches, optimizing our ability to create new experiences for fans.”

Sid Rao, Infinite Athlete’s Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships and Revenue, added, “We are energized about this partnership with TGL and the opportunity to bring our technology to yet another sport. By partnering with a league like TGL that is strategically building its technology stack from the ground up, we are able to unlock dynamic revenue-generating and enhance fan experience opportunities for them as it continues to grow.”

Earlier this month, meanwhile, TGL announced Full Swing as its official technology partner, which will see the golf simulator firm power the competition’s gameplay.
